"GHOST"

Pastel  14" x 14"

Ghost should be a star with Cirque de Soleil - his repertoire of tricks is stunning!  He has one blue eye and one dark blue eye.   Below Ghost with Felicia.  Felicia grooms dogs so Ghost's "styling" is shorter above than below.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

OF COURSE IT'S A CAT!

Dates back to 2008.   And, yes, that is my dragon jar and my cat.  By now you should know his name, Jackie.
HAVE A GREAT CREEPY TIME!

"Golden" Spaniel

Pastel  8"x10"  VERY textured paper!

Yes, paper and dog are in gold hues.   I don't even known his name.  A sketch, firmly, s-k-e-t-c-h.   Two new in feline foolishness.

A New "JENNY" in the Gallery

Pastel  8"x10"

You'll recognise it - it's in the header too.   And now it's in the gallery.
Dogs?!   I PROMISE:  tomorrow.

ciao

"DAISY" work in progress

DAISY  beagle/lab cross
pastel on canson/textured 8"x8"

I'm intentionally keeping this loose and plan that style for the whole piece BECAUSE it will end up around 18"x24", a true head to toes portrait.   Not a commission, just one of those "dogs in the park".   Other work on hand will slow completion but watch for updates!

In the photograph she is leaning forward, straining her leash, staring intently at an approaching dog.   After I took the photo, she jumped into the shallow park lake and continued her walk there - still on leash.

Jackie

Jackie #3  Water Color/Pastel 6"x8"

(A dog tomorrow!)

Fun to do, freehand.   Grain of paper was really too intense for something so small.   This is painting when I am as relaxed as my subject!   Fun to do, fun to look at - it captures the mood (relaxed tail, low grade curiousity - he was looking out a window) and you can clearly see he's a bit chubby, despite the somewhat regal pose.

He/Jackie was exactly this.   Just lay on some affection and it'd bring forth a purr that could be heard across a room.

Do you see "Shuggi"?

"Shuggi Sleeps" - Ink & Brush 8"x8".

This has been on my wall for a long time.  Over the years about 3 people have stopped, looked, frowned then turned to me, "What is this?"
That's always puzzled me, so....

...do you see Shuggi?

He was a lilac point Siamese who adored the world, meeting new people...and eating red flowers.  Gosh he loved them!  Even when he went blind he clearly got a special buzz from red, honing in on them in a tub of mixed colors - I only planted "edible" flowers - for him.

Dot-commed at last!

Welcome!

This blog gives you the opportunity to view (!) my work, and even if you don't want a portrait of your pet, I hope you enjoy what you see.

For me, each portrait draws its spirit from my subject's special spark and unique character.  It's all there, in the tilt of the head, the twitched ear, the quirky eyebrow and always the eyes.  Of course your pleasure in the finished work is icing on the cake.

Thank you for visiting!
